Czym jest UŁK (ang. GPP - Generalised Pustular Psoriasis)?
Jeśli u Pani/Pana lub bliskiej Pani/Panu osoby zdiagnozowano uogólnioną łuszczycę krostkową, ważne jest, aby dowiedzieć się, czym w ogóle jest UŁK.
UŁK jest rzadkim rodzajem łuszczycy.1 Jest to przewlekła, ciężka choroba zapalna, która niestety może zagrażać życiu.2 Nieleczona może prowadzić do powikłań, w tym posocznicy (infekcji), niewydolności nerek, niewydolności serca oraz zespołu ostrej niewydolności oddechowej (płyn w płucach).3
UŁK nie jest chorobą zakaźną, więc nie można się nią zarazić od kogoś innego ani przekazać jej dalej.4 Ponieważ uogólniona łuszczyca krostkowa jest tak rzadka, wiele osób (w tym lekarze) nie zna jej dobrze, przez co trudno ją rozpoznać.5 Pacjenci z UŁK mogą być błędnie zdiagnozowani, gdyż choroba może być pomylona z infekcją lub innymi schorzeniami.6
W przypadku UŁK zaostrzenia lub nasilenia pojawiają się nagle w postaci bolesnych krost na dużych obszarach skóry.7 Krosty są czerwone, swędzące, bolesne i bardzo widoczne. Mogą im towarzyszyć gorączka, dreszcze, zmęczenie i nudności, a także pogorszenie stanu psychicznego i emocjonalnego.7,8,9 Krosty to owrzodzenia objęte stanem zapalnym i przypominające pęcherze (zmiany) wypełnione ropą pojawiające się na powierzchni skóry. Skóra może się łuszczyć lub swędzieć, a nawet boleć.10,11 U osób cierpiących na UŁK występują krosty, które często powiększają się i łączą, utrzymując się od kilku dni do kilku tygodni.12 Łuszczyca krostkowa może być uporczywa, z objawami utrzymującymi się przez wiele miesięcy, lub nawracająca, gdy objawy ustępują, a następnie pojawiają się ponownie.3
Przyczyny UŁK nie są niestety dokładnie znane. Niektóre osoby mają predyspozycje do jej występowania, ale choroba może być również wywołana przez takie czynniki, jak stres, niektóre leki lub ciąża.7
UŁK jest ciężkim schorzeniem, które wymaga leczenia ogólnoustrojowego (działającego na cały organizm). Leczenie miejscowe jest niewystarczające.6

Chociaż UŁK jest rzadką chorobą, oto kilka rzeczy, które już o niej wiemy:
Uogólniona łuszczyca krostkowa nie jest zakaźna.4 Jest to choroba autozapalna, więc nie można się nią zarazić, ani zarazić nikogo innego.12
Szacuje się, że w Europie na UŁK chorują 2 osoby na milion populacji.13
Pierwsze objawy UŁK występują zazwyczaj pomiędzy 40. a 50. rokiem życia.1
UŁK dwa razy częściej dotyka kobiety niż mężczyzn.9
UŁK jest szczególnym rodzajem łuszczycy, innym niż łuszczyca plackowata.3
UŁK może występować jednocześnie z łuszczycą lub bez niej.14
Nieleczona UŁK może prowadzić do powikłań zagrażających życiu (takich jak posocznica lub niewydolność narządów), często wymagających pilnej pomocy medycznej.3
Dermatolog jest właściwym specjalistą do rozpoznania UŁK.15
